Carles Sora is an interdisciplinary scholar whose creative and critical research explores the intersections of technology, audiovisual, culture and arts. He is Associate Professor and Academic Director of CITM (Center for Image and Multimedia Technologies), a digital creativity center at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Terrassa. Doctor in digital media studies by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF, 2015). He was Assistant Professor of digital culture and interactive narratives at UPF, Barcelona, Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT Open Doc Lab (2017-2019), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, and founder of the incubator program UPF Starting Lab. Sora’s PhD dissertation developed a framework on digital time and interactive narratives. He has a M.S. in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media (UPF, 2009), and a B.S. in Multimedia (UPC, 2004).

Since graduated from his B.S. he has worked in more than 25 interactive projects for visual arts, performance, and scientific dissemination. He was founder member of the interactive exhibition studio Touche.cat (2009-12) and director of the Digital Technologies for the Stage graduate program (2010-11). He has presented his academic and artistic work in several international venues: Quebec City -as artist in residence at Méduse center-, Paris (ISCC), Buenos Aires (VE), Mexico DF (ExTeresa), Bristol (i-Docs), Lisbone, Lugano, (ECREA). In 2017 he was recipient of a Fulbright Grant for a postdoctoral fellowship at the Comparative Media Studies department, School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, MIT.

He is now doing research on critital media theory and media effects of immersive media, interactive documentaries, new emerging automatic narratives, and their implicit impact and capacity to transform society.
